Affiliate disclosure

We earn commission on some links. Here is precisely how that works and what it does not change.

The short version

Wow Hairstyles earns money from affiliate commissions and display advertising. Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may receive a commission. You pay exactly the same price either way.

This is how the site funds itself and stays free to read.

An affiliate link carries a tag that tells the retailer we sent you. If you buy within the tracking window — usually between 24 hours and 90 days, depending on the programme — the retailer pays us a percentage of the sale. The retailer absorbs that cost out of its own margin. It is never added to your price, and it does not affect what you are shown or what you can buy.

Programmes we participate in

We take part in affiliate programmes including Amazon Associates and a number of hair, beauty and retail programmes run directly by brands or through affiliate networks.

Amazon Associates: As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. Amazon and the Amazon logo are trademarks of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates.

How this affects what we write

This is the part that matters, so we will be specific.

  • Commission does not decide recommendations. We recommend the product that fits the reader’s hair and situation, not the one that pays best. Where a cheaper or non-commissionable option is better, we say so.
  • We say when not to buy. A product guide that only ever says yes is a sales page. Ours tell you who a product is wrong for.
  • No brand approves our content. No advertiser, merchant or affiliate partner sees an article before publication or has any right to change it.
  • Receiving a product creates no obligation. If a brand sends us something, we are not required to write about it, and we are not required to be positive if we do.
  • We do not print prices. Prices change constantly. Links take you to the retailer, where the current price is shown. Always check it before buying.

Our full approach to editorial independence is in our editorial policy.

Every article containing affiliate links carries a disclosure near the top, before the first link. Affiliate links are marked with the sponsored and nofollow link attributes, as search engine guidelines require. Links that are purely informational — a reference, a source, a related article — are not affiliate links and are not marked as such.

Display advertising

Separately from affiliate links, this site shows display advertising. Advertisements are served by third-party networks and are not editorial endorsements. We do not control which specific advertisements appear on a given page. If you see an advertisement that seems inappropriate, please report it through our contact form with the page it appeared on, and we will raise it with the network.

Advertising cookies and your controls over them are covered in our cookie policy.

If a post is paid for, it is labelled as sponsored at the top of the page. We do not publish paid content disguised as editorial coverage.

This disclosure is made in line with the United States Federal Trade Commission’s guidance on endorsements and testimonials, UK Competition and Markets Authority guidance on online endorsements, and equivalent rules elsewhere. We disclose because readers deserve to know, and because the law requires it.

Questions

If anything here is unclear, or you want to know whether a specific link is an affiliate link, ask through our contact form and we will tell you.
