General disclaimer

Wow Hairstyles publishes information about hairstyles, hair colour, hair care and related products. Everything on this site is provided for general information and inspiration only. It is published in good faith and reviewed before publication, but it is offered without warranty of any kind, express or implied.

You act on what you read here at your own risk. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from reliance on the content of this site.

Not medical advice

This is the most important section on this page.

Nothing on Wow Hairstyles is medical advice, and no one writing for this site is acting as your healthcare provider. We do not diagnose conditions, and we do not prescribe treatment.

Speak to a doctor, dermatologist or trichologist if you are experiencing:

  • Hair loss, thinning, or bald patches
  • A scalp condition — persistent itching, flaking, soreness, bleeding or infection
  • An allergic or adverse reaction to any hair product
  • Hair changes that began after illness, pregnancy, surgery or a change in medication
  • Any symptom that worries you

Hair changes are sometimes a sign of an underlying medical issue. Reading an article is not a substitute for being examined by someone qualified. Do not delay seeking medical advice because of something you read here.

Chemical processes: bleach, dye, relaxers and perms

Where we describe chemical hair processes, we describe what is involved. We are not training you to perform them.

  • Always patch test. Carry out a patch test at least 48 hours before using any hair dye or chemical product, every single time, even with a product you have used before. Allergic reactions can develop suddenly and can be severe.
  • Follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Where our content and a product’s own instructions differ, follow the product.
  • Never mix products or chemical services unless the manufacturer states it is safe. Combining chemical processes, particularly relaxing and bleaching, can cause severe hair damage and scalp burns.
  • Seek a professional for significant colour changes, corrections, bleaching from dark to light, and any chemical straightening or texturising service.
  • Stop immediately if you feel burning, stinging or pain, and rinse thoroughly. Seek medical attention for a scalp burn or a reaction.

Heat styling and tools

Heat tools cause burns and hair damage when misused. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions, use a heat protectant, never use electrical tools near water, and never leave a heated tool unattended. Keep all tools out of reach of children.

Results vary

Hair behaves differently from person to person. Texture, porosity, density, previous chemical treatments, water hardness, climate, medication and age all change the outcome. A style, product or technique that works for one person may not work for you, and may not produce the result shown in an image.

Images on this site are illustrative and show representative styles. They are not promises of a result you will achieve. See our image credits page.

Product information, including specifications and availability, changes without notice. We do not manufacture or sell any product mentioned here, and we provide no warranty on any of them. Always read the product’s own label, instructions and ingredient list before use, particularly if you have allergies or a sensitive scalp.

We link to third-party websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, products, services or practices. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the destination site.

Children

Content involving children’s hair is written for parents and carers. Do not use chemical colour, bleach, relaxers or perms on a child’s hair. Supervise any use of heat tools.
